Bold

March 14, 2015

Bold choices and bold moves.

While on my vacation back home to Michigan, my friends and family kept asking me, “So, what do you do in New York City?” My responses were very stoic. I didn't sound excited about it nor did my expression make it seem like I loved it. I started to rethink my career and what my purposes were when I first moved to New York City, I needed to stop masking how I felt about the company and hoping it would get better. I mean, I love what I did as Digital Marketing Coordinator but the company...that I wasn’t too sure about. I did not want to waste my learning years at a place I wasn't happy in nor did I look forward to being there anymore. After my vacation, I made a bold move and decided to leave the company. I knew that I owed it to myself to stop pretending that I loved it there and to just be happy. I do not know what my next moves are, but I am excited for what is to come my way!

As you already know today's blog post is about being bold. Standing out from the rest with bold pieces. My look today is inspired by the Lacoste FW15 collection that I had the privilege of attending. It was all about bold colors, sporty chic outfits, and high socks.

Taking inspiration from that runway show, I have created a look that is easy to wear; each piece can be worn separately into different looks. One piece that is very wearable are the jogger pants, they are essentially a cinched chino. They are probably my favorite type of pants to wear because they are just so comfortable and the fit is unreal. Pairing my jogger pants with an oversized sport jacket and white button shirt to create contrast with my fitted pants and loose tops. I finished this look with my white high socks and white high top sneakers for some color contrast to my all black ensemble.

My outfit for the first day of New York Fashion Week. I figured why not start off the first day with a bang in a custom made 3 piece suit from Darkoh. This is my 3rd season of going to New York Fashion Week since moving to New York. Every season has been an amazing experience and a learning process for me.

I was invited by the designer of Darkoh to attend the show and have access to the backstage before the show. I have never seen the behind the scene before a show and I must give applause to all designers, make up artists, models, and everyone involved it in. Everyone is constantly on the moves and knows what they are doing.

Sitting in front row watching the Fall/Winter 2015 collection in my custom made suit from the designer herself was an experience of a lifetime. To be acknowledged by what I love to do and having the privilege of doing it during Fashion Week is one of my top moment in 2015. I

New York Fashion Week started on Thursday and it's been such a hectic week. My room is a mess from changing outfits for shows and just getting a few hours of sleep each days. I do not have time to clean my room so I just use my chair as a clothing rack to toss used clothes on it.   Focusing on work, going shows, and working on my blog all at the same time can be exhausting, but I could never complain because it is something I love doing and been wanting to do forever.

Today's blog post is all about playing with prints. Prints can be tricky to wear because some prints clash with each other and most times some prints are just hard to style. When incorporating prints into your look you got to play it easy. Choose one bold clothing that is going to be the main attention of your outfit. In this case, my solar shirt is the main attention. I always wear solid color shirts when pairing it with prints because it helps bring out the prints. I finish up the look with a nice tailored pants and some clean sneakers. Always remember not to pair clothing that clash with each other. You want to wear pieces that will go well together and helps bring out the main attraction of it.

Got to work with my favorite photographer, Erika Dickstein again. We found this amazing location to shoot and it is just across from her apartment. She lives across from Central Park and this is the view that she sees everyday. So amazing!

Today's blog post is about color contrast. Playing with neutral colors and adding a bold color to make the outfit pop. What I am wearing underneath the vest is pretty stand and simple. White and a tailored tan dress pants. Keep it casual, but dressy because of the tailored pants. It is really the small details in a piece of item that makes a huge difference. Layered on top of the shirt is my favorite camel topcoat. I finish off this neutral look with a forest green vest over the coat for some color contrast and attention to the vest. Accessorizing this look with a bold watch from Gents Timepieces.

"Gents Timepieces offer the best in luxury timepieces for men, without the burden of price.

Look like a gent, and live like a gent with our luxury timepieces."

                                                                                                               - Gents Timepieces

With a great time piece like this, you do not need to to wear any more accessory as it will be overshadow by it. Sometime you just need the watch to speak for itself.

Holy Batman! This winter is getting brutal. The air hurts my face...why am I living where the air hurt my face? Oh yea because this is the best city in the worldwide world! But really though, I hate winter. Counting down the days till spring return. Until then layer up!

Today's blog post is about layering up in my favorite jean jacket. The modern twist to the classic Levi's jean jacket is adding fur lining to the jacket. Keeping me warm while looking badass. When layering one of the first thing I do is start with a basic button-front shirt as the foundation and finding sweaters that would go well with the shirt. Certain things I look into sweaters are color, style, and texture. In this case, I go with color. White shirts as the basic foundation is an easy way to pair with with any sweater/jacket. Finish your layer game with a topcoat for a sophisticate feel to your look as a whole.

If something is worth it then you make it work. As humans, we know what we want and desire. You can't plan out your future on the couch. You got to go and make it happen. That's why I moved to New York City. What will you do to make your dreams come true?

In completing my last style post for Wood Wood, I am putting together colors and pattern to create a fun look. Their FW15 collection is inspired by the 70s so it is only safe to say that this collection will be fun to style and wear for 2015. I love playing up the bomber jacket with a pattern shirt to bring out the cut and clean lines of the jacket and the shirt itself.

Would it be cliche of me to say "seize the day" because I truly believe you got to live each day making sure it is your best day yet. You have 24 hours in a day to make it YOUR day. Why not try to succeed it. Making small goals each day for you to accomplish. Rather it is to wake up on time or going to the gym. Just small things along the day to bring positiveness to your day and helps to achieve bigger goals in the future.

This past weekend I got to work with one of the best photographer I have ever met. It was our first time meeting to shoot and it just felt right. We clicked right away and everything just felt natural.

We teamed up together for today's blog post featuring "Wood Wood". Wood Wood is a lifestyle brand founded and based in Copenhagen, Denmark with stores in Berlin, Aarhus and Copenhagen as well as an on-line store.  In this look, I am wearing a few of their pieces from their Fall/Winter 2015 collection. When I first saw the collection, I immediately fell in love with this suede brown jacket. The cut and material was amazing. I never never seen anything bomber jacket like it. I paired this bomber with a faded polka shirt that goes from light to dark. Such a cool piece and contrast to this bomber jacket. I finish off this look with a simple black jogger from their collection and my trusted RainMan shoes.

One month in 2015 and already so much opportunities has opened up for me! I am always in shock and awe every time I get emails from brands that wants to work with me and people asking me for advice. I take everything as blessings and always try to give back as much as I can. I only live once and why not make the best out of it.

DATS_WHTSUP_124_2_LR.jpg

Today's style is about shearling jackets. This winter is about all layering and try to stay warm as we fight the chilling wind walking to the trains and to work. I love jackets with fur lining inside it and on the collar. It adds a sophistication to the simple jacket. Pairing with a sterling fur jacket is easy. You can pair it with a nice shirt or a floral one like mine for some contrast with a solid color jacket. For layering, you can wear it with a jean jacket or a thin jacket button up. For the complete look, I finish it with a wool pants and my trusted waterproof rainman shoes.

The Classic

January 28, 2015

Hey guys,

Welcome to my new site. For 2015, I want to start something big and more of what I wanted to do when I first started my blog back in November of 2013. Today, I launched this new site to create a guide for a modern man. The journey of that includes fashion, traveling, food and any sort of opportunities. I hope to share this with you guys and I hope you guys like it.

Today style post is very monochrome and simple. Since moving to New York City, I noticed that my wardrobe has became very monochrome but now and then I would always try to add some colors for a bold statement.

I love to wear black and white. It is my favorite color combination. They go so well together and gives such a sophisticated feel to an outfit. One of my favorite piece from this look is this long bomber jacket from Brooklyn Cloth. Such a chic look to the original bomber jacket style.

Apartment searching in New York City is so hectic and confusing. After living at my first apartment when I first moved to New york City back in January of this year. It is now time for me to leave this apartment where it all started. I am going to miss my rooftop the most. Amazing lighting and it is where I took most of my first series of style photos on it. I am going to have one last shoot there before I say goodbye.

Today’s style post featured an amazing UK brand named Topman. Topman is the stand-alone fashion business counterpart of Topshop that caters exclusively to men’s clothing. This season they released a collection of amazing overcoats and each one of them is made with so much thought and delicate to them. I was able to get the classic camel wool mix overcoat.

In this look, I am styling the coat in my casual chic look with a plain t-shirt and my wool grey pattern pants to add a little bit of texture into this outfit. For a pop of color I relied on my watch to pull this look all together while keeping it chic.

Wolf Of Wall Street

January 9, 2015

Hey guys,

Hope everyone is doing great! It’s been awhile since I blogged. Feel like I am losing time since fall begins. These past few weeks were so hectic. But I am back on schedule and ready to blog.

Today’s style post is about the style of Wall Street. Tackling the traditional style of Wall Street with a modern approach to it. The traditional style of Wall Street to me has always been loud; untailored suit, heavy tie, and big suspenders. There is a time and place for that and it is Halloween not when you are trying to close a deal. In my look, I am going more of a modern approach to the style of Wall Street. One of the color combinations that people seems to steer away from is black and blue. Both colors are really dominant when paired with other colors but in this case the colors works well together. With the two colors combined it really add a powerful feel to my mix and match suit with the atmosphere of the NYSE. Finish off my look with a topcoat and I am ready to buy some stocks.

It’s that time of the year again…holiday spirit spreading all over the country. I am trying to get into the holiday spirit, but it is so hard since I’m away from home in a new place. My good friends today told to since this is my first time away from the holidays, I should start my own holiday tradition. I am kinda scare but at the same time excited to do so! What are some of you guy’s holiday traditions?

Today’s style post is about the timeless look. Incorporating a two-piece into the New York City lifestyle. This look is the definition of style and class. A classic look that anyone can easily wear for any occasion. The look is so simple and chic without putting much effort into it.  What to wear with a classic 2-piece is none other than a simple white shirt. It is all about the classics in today’s post. Often time finding the perfect white shirt to wear is difficult because it can stain easily and get ruin after the first wear. Luckily, I was introduced to this new menswear line of shirts that put together style, function and design.

Tahaanga is a new concept in men's apparel, providing sweat proof dress shirts that can withstand the New York lifestyle: bike, work, celebrate - no sweat.   The shirts incorporate the latest technologies making them: moisture-wicking, wrinkle-resistant, quick dry, non-iron, hang to dry, anti-bacterial, odor resistant and color fade free, all while being a fashionably tailored dress shirts.

Wonderland

December 10, 2014

As we grow older we begin to realize the things that we have such a hard time grasping become to easy to understand. If I could have one wish I would go back to my freshman year of college and tell my 18-year-old self one thing, “be proactive, not reactive”. I could sit here and tell you a list of things that I want to do and all of my ideas. I spend too much time thinking about it instead of just doing it. One of my favorite quotes by Bruce lee is, “if you spend too much time thinking about a thing, you’ll never get it done”. That quotes teaches me to instead of just wising for things or wanting things. I have the power and resources to just make it happen.

Today’s style post is about the key piece of an outfit. Finding that one piece of an outfit to help bring your whole look together can be a difficult thing because it has to go with every piece of your outfit. This piece is the key to the perfect marriage. In this look, the key piece is this brown long coat from which I got at a thrift store for only $12.  By adding this coat, my simple look of the sweater and pants was changed to a more chic and stylish look. Also, the color of the coat helps tone down the amount of blue I am wearing.

Top Man

December 8, 2014

Brrrrr, it is getting a little bit chilly now. The worse part is those violence winds that just attack your face for no reason. Sometime Mother Nature can be just a raging @($*@.

To everyone that knows me, know that I hate winter but yet I lived in Michigan for over 20 years and now I am living in New York City. If I hate winter so badly, how come I just didn’t move to the west coast? The answer is simple; I love winter clothes too much. I love to be able to wear my topcoats and my sweaters.  Getting the perfect layering technique, which by the way is a skill. It isn’t the same when living somewhere hot year around.

Getting back on topic, today’s post is all about the winter layering. Catering to the perfect navy topcoat I got my hands on. This cold season it is all about topcoats. When in doubt know that topcoat over everything. It is the simplest outwear that can make any looks look chic and effortless.  All the versatility a clean topcoat can offer to your outfit as a whole ensemble.

New Romantics

December 2, 2014

Wowwww,

I still cannot believe that it is already November. It feels like time fly so fast, especially this year. It just feels like 2014 just passing through to say hi and then bye. Maybe it is because I live in such a fast pace city that everything just seems fast but in reality it isn’t.

Today’s blog post is about time and living in the moment so you do not have to feel like you are wasting it. Living in New York City, everything is so fast pace and people are always running to work, to the train, or just running to get somewhere. I need a watch that is able to keep up with me and keep me on track.

For all of that, I trust CT Scuderia, getting me to where I want to be in the city without ever being late. Whenever I have such a detailed and beautiful piece like this watch. I’d like to dress around it so that way it would be the center of my outfit and there is no clashing with my look. For that, I like to keep it simple with just black jeans and texture sweater. To finish this look I added in a long color block coat for some color and layering affect to this whole look.

Stockholm Syndrome

December 1, 2014

Brace yourself everyone, Christmas is coming. Get ready for 25 (or more) days of Christmas music everywhere you go. Personally, I don’t mind it at all. There is some pretty good Christmas out there; new and old. I am excited to listen to them all. This year, I am spending Christmas away from home, but New York City is starting to feel like home to me anyway.

Today’s blog post is all about styling the perfect vest from Uniqlo. This year, this store has taken my heart as I have fallen in love with their simplicity and easy styling to menswear. Their ultra light down vest is perfect for layering and keeping warm. The vest offers the warmth of down without sacrificing style. With a shallow v-neck and snap-down front, this handsome vest is ideal for throwing over a button-up or casual t-shirt. In colder months, the lightweight, water-repellent material adds an essential layer of warmth.

Central Park Affair

November 29, 2014

Hope everyone had an amazing Thanksgiving spending it with friends and family. I know I needed that break to relax and catch up on some shows.

Today’s style post is about fall colors. Keeping it warm and in season with the mischievous fall weather. What a better location to show off Fall in New York City than Central Park. I love the changing leaves and atmosphere of what this iconic park gives off. My favorite colors to wear during the fall are to represent the fall season is shades of brown, gold, and maroon. All of which you can see in this style post

In this look, I am wearing a maroon suit with one of my favorite topcoat from Topman. I love this topcoat because the color is perfect for the fall and that I can wear this coat dressed down (like my previous post) or up (like this post). No matter what style I am wearing I can trust this coat to add some chic to it. Finishing off this look with some accessories from Dharma Eyewear and Daniel Wellington watch.

Wildest Dreams

October 31, 2014

Stop. Rewind.

Today’s blog post features a piece of clothing that is one of the hottest trends since the First World War; the iconic trench coat.

The trench cat can be worn many way and seasons. One of the typically way to wear it is when it is raining outside because it’s known to be made from waterproof materials like heavy-duty cotton, leather, or poplin. These coats come in many colors and the classic versions come in various lengths depending on how you like to wear them. I like my trench coat to hang just below my knees.  The coat is effortless chic when pairing it with your looks.

One of the ways I like to wear my trench coat is to layer it with a cardigan and shirt. By adding in colors and layering to this look it gives the coat a little bit more edge to the coat than it being just a classic trench coat.  In keeping the style of sporty chic in tact I added in my vans to keep it simple and eye attention to the coat.
